At the invitations of Nina and Carlos Laborde the Field Section Midsummer Picnic will take place at Cefndyrys, nr Builth.
Cefndyrys is a small country estate situated about a mile and a half north of Builth Wells. The house was built in 1790 and a small sporting estate was created surrounding it, including four cottages which housed the farm workers and gardeners. The landscape has remained much the same for the past two centuries.
Two thirds of the property is pasture and hay meadows and one third is forestry. There is a Heronry which has been in existence for over a century, possibly longer, with records dating back to the 1940s. A few specimen trees were planted in the nineteenth century at the edge of the garden, including a lovely old gnarled Tulip tree which produces beautiful flowers in mid-June.
More details will be added closer to the event.
